By accessing or using the Calkins Family Association website, online forms, member resources, donation pages, event pages, genealogy submission tools, or related digital services, you agree to these Terms of Use.
If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use the website or submit information through CFA’s online systems.
2. About the Calkins Family Association
The Calkins Family Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, studying, and sharing the history, genealogy, heritage, and fellowship of the Calkins family and related lines.
The website is intended to support CFA’s nonprofit mission, including membership administration, donations, communications, events, family history preservation, genealogy research, and member engagement.
3. Website Content
CFA provides historical, genealogical, educational, organizational, and member-related content for general informational purposes.
While CFA works to provide accurate and meaningful information, historical and genealogical materials may include errors, omissions, incomplete records, differing interpretations, or information submitted by third parties. CFA does not guarantee that all website content, family history information, lineage materials, dates, names, relationships, or historical references are complete, current, or error-free.
CFA may update, revise, remove, archive, or correct website content at any time.
4. No Professional Advice
Content on the CFA website is not legal, tax, financial, genealogical certification, archival, or professional advice. Users should consult appropriate professionals when they need advice specific to their situation.
5. Membership, Accounts, and Access
Certain portions of the website or related systems may require membership, registration, login credentials, or approved access.
You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate and current information;
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials;
- Using member-only materials appropriately;
- Not sharing restricted access with unauthorized users;

6. Donations, Membership Dues, Pledges, and Payments
CFA may accept donations, membership dues, pledge commitments, recurring gifts, event registrations, sponsorships, and other payments through third-party platforms, including NeonCRM, Neon Pay, payment processors, or other approved systems.
By submitting a payment, pledge, or recurring gift authorization, you agree to provide accurate billing and contact information and authorize the applicable payment processor to process the transaction.
CFA may issue donation acknowledgments and receipts in accordance with applicable nonprofit and tax rules. IRS guidance generally requires written acknowledgments for charitable contributions of $250 or more and requires disclosure of whether goods or services were provided in exchange for the contribution.
7. Refunds, Cancellations, and Recurring Gifts
Unless otherwise stated, charitable donations to CFA are generally non-refundable.
If a donation, membership payment, pledge payment, or recurring gift was made in error, you should contact CFA as soon as possible at [email protected]. CFA will review refund or correction requests on a case-by-case basis.
Membership dues, event fees, publication purchases, merchandise, or other non-donation payments may be subject to separate refund or cancellation terms stated at the time of payment or registration.
Recurring donors are responsible for maintaining current payment information and may request cancellation or modification of future recurring gifts by contacting CFA or using the applicable donor/member portal tools, if available.
8. Genealogy, Line of Descent, and User Submissions
CFA may collect or receive genealogy materials, lineage information, Line of Descent submissions, family stories, photographs, documents, dates, names, relationship information, and supporting records.
By submitting materials to CFA, you represent that:
- The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- You have the right or permission to submit the materials;
- Your submission does not knowingly violate the privacy, copyright, or other rights of another person;
- CFA may review, store, research, archive, edit, format, publish, or decline the submission consistent with CFA’s mission.
CFA is not required to accept, publish, verify, return, or preserve every submission.
9. License to Use Submitted Materials
When you submit content to CFA, including text, documents, family history, genealogy information, images, photographs, comments, testimonials, or other materials, you grant CFA a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, store, archive, edit, display, publish, distribute, and create derivative works from the submission for CFA’s nonprofit, historical, genealogical, educational, archival, membership, and communication purposes.
You retain any ownership rights you may have in your original submission, but CFA may use the submitted material as described above unless otherwise agreed in writing.
10. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Use the website for unlawful purposes;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to CFA systems or accounts;
- Upload malware, malicious code, or harmful files;
- Scrape, harvest, or misuse member, donor, or genealogical information;
- Impersonate another person or organization;
- Submit false, misleading, defamatory, infringing, or abusive content;
- Interfere with website operation or security;
- Use CFA materials for unauthorized commercial purposes;
- Violate intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
11. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise noted, CFA owns or has permission to use the website content, logos, designs, text, photographs, publications, graphics, layouts, and other materials displayed on the website.
You may view, download, or print website materials for personal, educational, genealogical, or nonprofit-related use, provided that you do not remove attribution or use the materials in a misleading way.
Commercial use, republication, mass reproduction, or redistribution of CFA materials requires prior written permission from CFA.

CFA may use or link to third-party services, including but not limited to NeonCRM, Neon One, Neon Pay, WordPress, website hosting providers, payment processors, JotForm, Microsoft 365, email delivery providers, analytics tools, embedded media, social media platforms, and security tools.
CFA does not control all third-party websites, platforms, or services and is not responsible for their content, policies, availability, security, or practices.
Use of third-party services may also be subject to those providers’ own terms and privacy policies.
13. Privacy
CFA’s collection and use of personal information is described in the separate Privacy Policy. By using the website or submitting information to CFA, you acknowledge that CFA may collect, use, and share information as described in that policy.
