Reunion 2024 Itinerary

Preliminary Itinerary:

·        Thursday Sept. 12. 6:00pm – 9:00 pm. Silver Cloud Hotel conference room; 1150 Fairview Ave. North, Seattle, WA  98109. Registration, Meet & Greet, goodie bags, finger food, cash bar. Raffle ticket sales and genealogy library opening.

 

·        Friday, September 13: 8:45 meet at hotel for bus shuttle. Leave at 9:00.

·        9:00 Shuttle to Mercer Island. Stop at Calkins Landing. Then Luther Burbank Park. Hear Alice Hansen talk of Mercer Island folklore.  Visit Calkins’ Point. Sack lunch at park. Visit Roanoke Inn for drinks and appetizers in the afternoon. 3:00 return to hotel for dinner on your own.

 

·        Saturday,September 14:

·        9:00 to 11:40 –A packed morning of eight intriguing lectures of historic tales and Calkins stories around America. Silver Cloud Hotel Conference Room.

·        11:40 Chef salad lunch served

         CFA Business meeting with election of officers

·        Afternoon: Explore South Lake Union –walking distance from the hotel. Museum of History & Industry ($16 if you want to enter), Northwest Native Canoe Center, Center for Wooden Boats, and Chandler's Cove Shopping Mall, Lake Union Piers, Lake Union Park, etc.

·        6:00 – 9:00 Banquet with keynote speaker, entertainment, business meeting. To honor the first inhabitants of the Seattle area, we are featuring Native Duwarnish Indian cuisine. www.duwamishtribe.org . Cash bar. Raffle drawing. Awards.

 

·        Sunday, September 15

·        9:00 – 12:00. Boat tour of Lake Union and Lake Washington, Mercer Island. Virginia V Boat tour of Lake Union & Lake Washington/snacks/water Meet at the dock next to the MOHAI.  Historical narrator: Jane Meyer Brahm, co-president of the Mercer Island Historical Society and author of Mercer Island History, ‘From haunted wilderness to coveted community.’

·        Afternoon: Seattle Walking Tour of Pike Place Market & Seattle waterfront. For Slow Walkers:  stop at Pike Place Market. For Seattle Center:  Trolley to Westlake Center, transfer to Monorail. 

·        Evening: Casual gathering and relaxation.

 

·        Monday, September 16th:

·        Morning: Optional visit to Seattle Center.

·        Official conclusion of the reunion.

 

Throughout the reunion, participants will have access to the hotel's boardroom, where they can enjoy the CFA library and view raffle items. Need help with family research? People will be on hand to help. Additionally, there will be ample opportunities for casual interactions and personal exploration of Seattle's rich cultural scene. Collect autographs, make new friends.
